Casting

Today was a messy start! We began the day by throwing plaster at our clay sculptures. We had to make sure every part was covered with plaster. I somehow managed to through plaster in my eyes and hair - this part was not fun πŸ˜‘To prepare for this part we pushed foiled through the clay so that it could create a wall - separating two halfs.
Once the clay was dry, I pulled the foils out with pliers - this was quite tough to do. we then separated it by running water through the cracks of the plasters and teased it apart. The mould was then washed and the detail of my sculpture turned out really well.
I now just have to cast my mould by covering it in clay.

October week

Break time... During my week off college I was going to barcalona. I went out for a family meal on Friday and happened to get such an amazing surprise! I got told that it was actually NEW YORK! - I had a wish to go their ever since I was a young girl. My boyfriend had booked it for my 21st birthday!😁🎈🍰 so this is partly the reason I am a few weeks behind on my blog!πŸ˜‘ However... I went to NEW YORKKK! and it was the best holiday ever!! we explored and walked so much in the 5 days we had there whilst gaining experience like nothing we've ever done before! And I don't feel so bad about not doing my blogs because if anything I was so inspired by the whole city! The food, the people the lights were amazing! We went past the design and fashion schools and learnt a lot about how the art/fashion/design industry is such a big thing their! I couldn't help but think how amazing it would be to live near there and be in a job that I loved doing. ❤️❤️It really inspired me and made me think positive about my future and how it could happen if I try hard enough!

Week 5

In order to complete my blog this week, a network map had to be created based on current, future and/ or dreams. I had decided to do them all so I could evaluate my end result.

This image shows the class's network maps....

In the present section of my network map I included the main elements that I work around everyday. These unclude - home, college, hobby sand work. I went into a little detail about each topic describing the most important factors for each of them. I included that I will do volunteering  and some kind if placement by the time my course finishes. Although this is not current, I wanted to base my future map on the things I hope to do when I have completed my degree. some of the points for the future are teaching art and design - and at some point in a different country. I would love to experience various parts of the world.

Whilst making connection (using string) with other class mates, I noticed that people with the same area of interest as me has similar thoughts. For example my friend Megan wants to travel to parts of the world like me and gaining experience through an internship.
Also whilst making connections with other class mates, I notice that people with similar specialist areas has also very similar interests. Keeping fit was a topic I found regularly in a lot of maps. I think fitness is an important part of your everyday lifestyle as it helps you to be  mentally and physically be prepared for work. I hope to be able to stay fit in tr future.

Picture

Finally! I feel as tho I can start to explore my multiples theme in more detail. I managed to get my head around what I was doing with thanks to Euan. I have way to many ideas so I decided to stick to the ones I kept going back to.

That Friday feeling...
Friday felt a long day and I just wanted to go home. Although the classes on Friday were fun in Catherine's and kyles class. But my super hero homework for Friday slipped my mind and I forgot.. So I created a quick drawing that morning and it was horrendous!

Week 3 sculpture

On Wednesday, we had a workshop on creating a clay structure. After watching the demonstration from Alison, we had to design our own shape and begin the process. Wood and wire mesh was used to build up the base structure - this is called an armature.
I worked in my sketchbook by researching artists that has created multiple pieces of artwork - this is mainly for inspiration and ideas. At this present moment, I am still unsure what my theme is in relation to my brief 'multiples'. I am going to carry out further research of various ideas and group all my photographs together by title to help me do this.

Week 2 - organising the route!

This week was very much similar to the first week. I felt I had much more of an idea to what I'm doing and where to go. I looked at street maps online and created mind maps of various possibilities to focus on. Also I had to have some kind if organisation before I went to gathered information in Edinburgh, I looked at train times so I could arrive promptly at the station.

Arrived in Edinburgh...
After speaking to our lecturer, we stayed as a group and began to collect images relating to the theme multiples. I was still slightly unsure of what I will focus in so I decided to take images of multiples every where. I came to a quick decision that I would have to decide when I got home  (by looking through my photographs) what to focus on more specifically...

first week back

This is my first ever blog - i have no clue what to include in it and or if its correct. Here goes....
Week 1 - First week back at college was better than expected! I have been introduced to new lecturers and new ways of learning. It was good to see everybody again! :D Having one brief to focus on all the way up to Christmas was quite surprising. This could be a good thing as i would have more time to concentrate on the one brief instead of multiple or a bad thing if i get bored of it - Time will tell. The name of the brief is on multiples and the theme has to based around the city of Edinburgh. We began by researching what the term multiple meant. At first i was confused but after further research i developed a clearer understanding of what it meant. I have various ideas to base my theme on in Edinburgh but wont know exactly what to focus on until get there.
