Hand ins

With just my presentation to do on Friday the only thing I have left to concentrate on is my essay. We will get our new breif this week and I might have a look at it. But really most of my concentration is on the essay!

Week 17

Time is a ticking!!!!

Right time is definitely ticking away! Just over a week to go and I'm still being picky! The good thing is I got most of the main work done before the holidays and all my paper work is up to date! The only thing I can't Fix is my referencing until I go back to college as it's saved on the college computer.. But that shouldn't be an issue! I have created a check list of things I have to complete and I have been ticking them off as I do it.

Here is a compotition of a possible layout from one section of my final piece! I have made the image monochrome so I can see the strongest light points. I want to try and spread out strongest points across the full window!

Week 16

With the last few weeks to go, my brain is going into panic mode! With me being so fussy on my design, I am still undecided on which layout to go with. I have nearly chosen which techniques and textures to put in my final piece. I really like the appliqué technique as light shines through the fabrics well. Also my tie-dyed fabric works extremely well as a marble effect flows through. Also I have found out that I need to layer up the silk fabric and the tie-dye fabric as it is bright on its own. Also I don't want the viewer to be able to see the light through the glass.
So now it's time to get the colouring pencils out and draw more designs.

Week 15

So Christmas Day came and Boxing Day past. It was lovely spending some time with family and friends. I gave myself a couple days off from stressing over college work and enjoyed the festive period. I also managed to squeeze in a Christmas night out with all the girls - which was a good night! Also a family trip to the Edinburgh Christmas market for a nice day out.
Edinburgh

managed to squeeze a lot of college work in between the day after Boxing Day and hogmoney which I was happy with. Also in between that time I managed to purchase myself a new printer... How exciting! Well I was actually quite excited to try it out from my new iPad I got from my Christmas! This will save a lot of hassle in having to wait until I am at college to print.

Week 14

So now it's time to paint the light box. The first coat went on streaky, so I left it to dry and gave it a second coat of quick drying brown paint.
The second coat made such a difference, it really improved the look of the box. I varnished the box which also gave it a slight shine. I don't want to spend too much time on the box as I have to concentrate mostly on the textile piece. I still am creating samples and experimenting with texture and fabric. My sketchbook has also been put on hold to concentrate on my textiles piece.

Week 13

So the last day of college is coming and I'm mostly where I want to be. The last of my paper work has been printed and the main prioritys have been done. At least I can focus on my textile piece, I'm struggling to decide how to finish my piece and it's making me stressed. I will look at it over the holidays.

Week12

As I decided previously, I wanted my textiles piece to be displayed in a window like structure. I had to get on the hunt for a scrap window. I began to research online for the contact details of window fitting company's near my home and wrote them down. I then made a few calls and eventually got some success! I got an old window frame with the glass in great condition and perfect for my project. I took the measurements of the window and then gained assistantance from Trevor to build my light box. I went to B&Q to buy my light. I wanted to get the main part of my box complete before the college broke up for the holidays.
Here is an image of me painting the inside of my box white, this is so the light reflects the white paint - making it brighter. Multiple coats of paint was required.

Week11-Non college work

So to focus on something other than college work and have a little break, I used my creative side to put together a few projects I wanted to do. firstly I began to create a large canvas for my friends little girl as a gift. I put all her favourite characters on it and began to paint it. Unfortunately I cannot get it finished because I've been so busy with college and work.
One of my friends had a little baby boy and I was wanting to give a special gift! I created a baby cake and managed to finish this idea! Except it is made up of nessesory goods for the baby e.g nappys, Johnstones baby oils and shampoos inside and an Embroidered blanket etc. This is one if the things I would like to make up for people and sell. I think it would be a successful seller as it can be personalised.

Eventually my ambition is to leave the sports shop and use the time I would spend there and create artwork to sell. Atleast I can work my own hours and do something I actually like doing! After my hand ins, I am going to look into achieving my goal. Well... I've said that since forever! So hopefully one day I won't have to sell shoes to customers..

Week 10

So after still continuing with my sketch book development and experimenting with texture, I found a new texture that I think I will add to my final piece! I added some embroidery stitches as I felt something was missing! The contrast of  Coloured of stitches worked well with the brown voile.

This texture is to represent the closer detail of the skin. They are multiple sizes purposely to show that every body is different in their own way!

Week 9

So after not being aloud to be that person in the street with their Christmas decorations on in November, I had to wait until the 1st of December. 😒 Christmas is my favourite time of the year and I love everything about it!😁 even the crazy shopping days and angry people! Anyway, putting the tree up was more challenging this year as we had a puppy running away with the decorations!
It was a tug of war moment!

Right let's move it!

Right it's time to sort out the blog! I've not posted in a good while because I've been so busy! Between college, work, cheerleading and Christmas festivities it's been a bit hectic! From the exciting trip to New York and my 21st, it's been Al go from there!
So from the week we left off, I had to squeeze in a few extra dance practises as we had a competition coming up in Blackpool. I had to carry on with my sketchbook work a bit later that week but eventually caught up.
